Anyone’s love of football can be taken away by negative behaviour and abuse. Safeguarding prevents this from happening. A Play Safe weekend at the start of each season is there to put safeguarding at the forefront of people’s minds. It reminds everyone to watch, listen, talk, act in every football environment.
On the weekend of 28–29 September 2025, WWGFC will once again be supporting Play Safe, the nationwide campaign that shines a spotlight on safeguarding in football.
This year, the focus is on giving children and young people a stronger voice in the game — encouraging adults to listen, talk, and respect their views. By creating open conversations, we can help ensure football remains a safe, fun, and enjoyable experience for everyone.
