Womens 1st XI Awards

Here are the 2019/20 season awards for the Womens 1st XI

Players Player Amy Woodbridge (Coxy) Takes a season out to have a baby girl and returns to win the big award! ‘Coxy’ is a very popular member of the team and also one of our top trainers. The players have shown their acknowledgement for a string of excellent performances between the sticks, which included an outstanding display at Woking. Very reliable all season barely missing a game and great to have back in amongst the squad.
Coaches Player Sian Bissett  First season as vice captain and led by example with consistent performances week in week out. Only missed one game, plus was also one of our top trainers throughout the season. Sian also should her versatility during the season by playing not only upfront in her favoured position, but also dropping back into midfield (ok with) and defence (not so keen although appreciated by the management!).
Most Improved Player Zoe Richardson One of the youngest players in the team and last season integrated very well into the 1st team squad. This year Zoe has moved up a level in the very challenging central midfield area. For a player so young she shows excellent technique and calmness on the ball. Encouraged to get a bit further forward this season has added goals and assists to her game, plus demonstrated that she can adapt to playing centre back when required. Supports Spurs but didn’t feel it was right to hold that against her and deservedly wins this award.

Season Summary:

The womens 1st team were lying in 4th place when the season was void. There were a number of competitive high scoring games during the season. The highlight being a superb performance to win 3-2 away at the league leaders Woking. The players showed an excellent attitude towards each game and there was a really good team spirit amongst the squad. I would like to thank Steve Anderson for his support on match days and sharing the coaching sessions. John Davis for his work behind the scenes, plus Anthony Taylor and Stuart Edwards for doing so well with the reserves under difficult circumstances, as squads were stretched a bit more this season. Lastly a big thank you to all the players in the 1st, reserves, u18s who turned up every Sunday and Wednesday. We hope we gave you an environment where you enjoyed your football.
