Season Summary: Our Leopards came of age this season, giving some high-quality teams a fright and scoring some notable victories over others. The girls are full of spirit and, though emotions sometimes run high, they invariably give everything for each other on the pitch.
The Leopards’ recovery from behind to draw 5-5 with Winnersh was a highlight, as was the 4-2 rollercoaster against Aldermaston. The girls showed how much they cared by throwing everything at it in two close battles against Caversham. They applied themselves determinedly, too, in two close matches against one of the league’s top teams, Tilehurst Panthers.
As the girls have moved on with their technique, tactical awareness and competitiveness, they have become an accomplished group of players. They proudly demonstrated this by reaching the final of the Bracknell Futsal tournament in January, losing out to the impressively disciplined Thatcham Tornadoes side, whilst loyally supported by those of the squad who weren’t playing.
And the parents have matured too, curbing their more antisocial instincts and learning new skills too, like touchline etiquette and referee empathy. Can’t wait for next season.
